Once again Joe teams up with fellow mallet man Warren Wolf for a one-off appearance at this year’s Hyde Park Jazz Festival in Chicago in September.
Warren is “a rising virtuoso whose form and technical abilities continue the lineage of great vibe players such as Milt Jackson, Bobby Hutcherson and Stefon Harris” (All*About*Jazz). Growing up in Baltimore, Warren studied classical music at Peabody Preparatory and the Baltimore School of the Arts. He then moved to Boston to attend the Berklee College of Music, where he studied with vibraphonists Dave Samuels and Ed Saindon, began to dive deeper into jazz, and became an active performer throughout the Boston area. After graduating, Warren continued playing across Boston and taught in Berklee’s percussion department before moving back to Baltimore. In his career, he has played with the likes of Wynton Marsalis, Jeremy Pelt, Adonis Rose, Lewis Nash, and Esperanza Spalding. Warren’s latest album, Convergence, was released in 2016.
